Come see all the art, music, performance, and food that Bridgeport has to offer! There are over 200 artists and 40 venues taking part in the 11th Annual Bridgeport Art Trail this year from Thursday, November 7 to Sunday, November 10. Thursday night kicks off with events downtown, including the giant Artists' Party at the Ground Floor Gallery at Read's ArtSpace from 6-10 pm with live music featuring John Torres, Scott Packham, Fuzz Sangiovanni, Rick Reyes and more, local food and brews, and the annual Artists Choose Artists exhibit. A new exhibit of sculpture by Joseph Saccio also opens at the Housatonic Museum of Art from 5-7 pm. And stop by City Lights Vintage until 7 pm for an eclectic selection of antiques and collectibles.
Head back downtown on Friday evening for the opening reception of Artists Teach at City Lights Gallery from 4-6:30 pm and a display of works by Richard Patton IV at the Freeman Center until 9 pm. Stop to enjoy dinner, art, and music at the latest SavorCity event at Star Istanbul from 6-8 pm before heading over to the Bijou Theatre for an evening of Music Video Mash Up hosted by Rob Nelson and WPKN and featuring local performers, followed by Lyrical Voices, a legendary night of poetry hosted by Shanna Melton.
Saturday morning the artist studios at American Fabrics Arts I and II, the NEST Arts Factory, 305 Knowlton Street open to the public for a full day of art – see the studios, take advantage of a studio sale, get firsthand insight from the artists, and experience exhibits, demonstrations, food, wine, and art in its purest setting. For an active view of the city's art and artists, join the Urban Bike Tour at 8:45 am starting fom City Lights Gallery and traveling to some of the city's artful and historic sites.
Saturday evening starts with the opening receptions of the Pop of Color storefront art installations downtown from 5:30-7:30 pm and then continues at the Boathouse at 305 Knowlton Street for a dance party featuring local musicians including Mikata and Orquestra Afinke until 10:30 pm.
You won't want to miss the Artists Brunch with delicious food and live music at NEST Arts Factory on Sunday morning from 10-12 pm before visiting all of the artist studios at American Fabrics Arts I and II, 305 Knowlton Street, and the NEST Arts Factory. WPKN holds their annual vinyl sale at American Fabrics Arts and the Boathouse at 305 Knowlton features pop-up exhibits and a storytellers workshop.
Sunday evening and the Art Trail wraps up at the Bijou Theatre with a fundraising drag and variety show from 2-5 pm followed by the November edition of Bridgeport's PechaKucha storytelling from 6-9 pm. Grab a drink from the bar and a bite to eat from Chef Raquel and sit back as the creative stories unfold and you digest all of the art you consumed over the weekend.
