Love means never having to say you’re sorry, but bad dialogue can ruin your day. Dialogue is a primary tool in storytelling, but it’s often confused with conversation. Whether you’re writing for film, stage, or novels and memoirs, dialogue can elevate your story, provide character insight, humor, and warmth. It can turn the mundane into the profound when used correctly. In this workshop, we’ll examine some classic dialogue and see what makes it work, uncovering the various levels needed to propel the character and story forward. We’ll use some fun in-class exercises to unlock some
hidden gems in your own work. So fasten your seatbelts, we’re in for an
exciting class.
