Description

This 4 week class is for students interested in studying and discussing the work of great poets such as Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson, Philip Larkin and Thomas Hardy amongst others. Through examples students will also expand their knowledge of different poetic form such as the Ballade, Ode and Dramatic Monologue. They will learn how poets use different devices to compliment or purposely jar with the theme of the poem. The class will discuss the poetic themes and techniques successfully employed to help inform their own writing. Plenty of opportunity will be given for in class writing and for sharing poems out loud.
