Description

Since 1975, the Westport Astronomical Society has brought the wonders of the night sky to the thousands who have visited the observatory.

We’re an all volunteer-run, non-profit organization that’s free and open to the public every Wednesday night from 8-10 pm if the skies are clear. Remember, near the summer solstice it doesn’t get dark until late, so please plan to come after sunset. We'll stay open later if there are people still using the telescopes.

In the summertime, we recommend you bring some bug spray and in the winter, dress much warmer than you'd think - we're outside!

We are heavily dependent on clear weather for our telescopes. Make sure to check the webpage at was-ct.org, our Twitter feed https://twitter.com/westportskyguys and/or the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/WAS.CT/ to confirm that we will be able to open before you come!
