Description

Come to Westport Historical Society on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from noon to 1 pm. Brown bag your lunch and learn the basics of DIY Genealogy from acclaimed WHS’ Archives Manager Sara Krasne!

Learn more about the ins and outs of doing family research on your own, resources you’re familiar with along with lesser known avenues of discovery.

The first part will explore the question—do you need to buy a genealogy service? Pros and cons of services and comparisons between Ancestry and other companies will be delved into—as well as introductions to free online resources for which you don’t need to use a paid service.

Bringing a laptop is highly recommended, but handouts of materials will be available in limited quantities.

Other dates in the series are: Nov. 13, 2019, Jan. 8, 2020, and Mar. 11, 2020. $50 bundle for all four sessions, or $15 for individual sessions.

Pre-registration recommended, register at www.westporthistory.org or call (203) 222-1424 x5.
