Description

Season premiere! Come travel with GBS along the Silk Road, with a visit from Kayhan Kalhor, master of the Persian kamancheh (spiked fiddle), and members of the Silk Road Ensemble. Kalhor's 2002 composition "Blue as the Turquoise Night of Neyshabur," Classical music steeped in the traditions of Persia and Iran. We'll also have a composition by Colin Jacobsen – "Atashgah," for kamancheh and strings -- and cap the evening with the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, performed by Matthew Hill, 16-year old prodigy and co-winner of GBS’ Young Instrumentalists’ Competition 2019.
