Presented in affiliation with the Inspired Writers Series hosted by MFA Program's Phil Klay

Ryan Ruby, a novelist and critic, and Becca Rothfeld, a non-fiction book critic at The Washington Post, will discuss their approaches to criticism and how they develop their work. Ruby, recipient of the 2023 Robert B. Silvers Prize for Literary Criticism, has published literary criticism in Harper's, The New York Times, Poetry, New Left Review, and other publications. Rothfeld, a contributing editor at The Point, has written essays and reviews for The New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, and The Atlantic. Their debut essay collection is forthcoming from Holt.
