Belkin will discuss her latest book, the multi-generational tale of three families whose paths collide one summer night in 1960 with the murder of a Stamford police officer.
Belkin traces the backgrounds of these men, one of them her stepfather, through the stories of immigration of each of their families, spanning the first half of the 20th century. By examining the choices that led to that fateful night, Belkin delivers a narrative that shows how we shape history just as we are shaped by it.
Belkin is an award-winning journalist and author. Her career at The New York Times includes stints as a national correspondent, medical reporter and contributor to The New York Times Magazine.
