Description

After the dark and drab months of winter, we are all looking forward to the bright colors of spring. Get an early peek when nature photographers Barbara and Peter Rzasa visit to talk about spring wildflowers in Connecticut at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road, on Saturday, February 29 at 2:00 pm. Many spring wildflowers are ephemerals, perennial plants that have developed unique characteristics that allow them to emerge and die back quickly. This presentation will highlight ephemerals and other native wildflowers including hepatica, wood anemone, Dutchman’s breeches, bloodroot, trillium, trout lily, ladyslipper orchids, Jack-in-the pulpit, May apple, wild ginger and more. Learn about these beautiful flowers and where and when to look for them this spring. Stories and flower folklore will also be shared. Registration is requested.

Barbara and Peter Rzasa are nature photographers who provide presentations on trees, plants and wildflowers with the goal of encouraging people to look more closely at the wonders of the natural world. Barbara obtained a BS degree in art from Southern Connecticut State University. A retired graphic designer, Barbara uses her artistic skills to create nature-based watercolor paintings. Peter has a BS degree in Forest Chemistry from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
