A Panel with Liz Matthews, Jessie McEntee, & Douglas Moser
“I love my rejection slips. They show me I try.” – Sylvia Plath
You’ve spent time revising and workshopping your stories, essays, poems, or plays, and now it’s time to share your work with the world! The submission process can feel overwhelming and impossible, but we have clear guidelines and tips to make you feel more comfortable.
In this panel, the instructors will take turns addressing the best ways to prepare your work for submission, how to research print and online journals, and contests. We’ll also cover how to use Duotrope, Submittable, cover letters, tracking, and most importantly—how to deal with rejection. It’s a necessary part of the process, but can also be motivating and clarifying.
