“Wish You Were Here” is a virtual and physical exhibition of postcards featuring images submitted by just over 100 people from across Connecticut and around the United States.
The online gallery will be viewable beginning June 13th, and the physical gallery, which is in the lobby of Still River Editions' print studio, will be open to up to 2 people from the same household at a time from 8:30 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday beginning on Monday, June 22nd. Please call in advance of your visit (203) 791-1474; masks are required for entry. The exhibition is free, and will be viewable through September 25th, 2020.
Gallery Director Lys Guillorn put out a call for submissions looking for “digital images you’ve taken during the COVID-19 pandemic—slices of daily life, art photographs, or photographs of artwork you’ve worked on or completed between March 1st and May 31st of 2020.” There are digital and alternative process photographs, paintings, prints, illustrations, drawings, and collages. The subject matter, tone, and style of the images reflect the varied experiences and creative impulses of the people who made them. At the end of the exhibition, the artist list will be randomized, and each artist will be mailed another artist’s postcard.
The 106 artists are: Anita Balkun (West Hartford, CT), Doris Bens (Cheshire, CT), David Borawski (Hartford, CT), Nancy Breakstone (Westport, CT), Peter Brown (Pine Meadow, CT), Pete Brunelli (Southington, CT), Robert Buderman, (Boalsburg, PA), Joy Bush (Hamden, CT), Isabel Chenoweth (Hamden, CT), Erin Coghlan (Ridgefield, CT), Kate Conetta (Danbury, CT), Frank Critelli (Meriden,CT), Morna Crites-Moore (Redding, CT), Shona Curtis (New Preston, CT), Shelley Dell (Brewster, NY), David DeRemus (Madeira Beach, FL), Jennifer DiLaura (Ridgefield, CT), Kenneth Dixon (Shelton, CT), Chris Durante (Redding, CT), Mary Dwyer (Stratford, CT), Eleftherios Farina (Danbury, CT), Lynn Fisher (Meriden, CT), Robert Fontenelli (Danbury, CT), Alice Fritz (Stratford, CT), Daisy Gesualdi (Bethel, CT), renato ghio (Danbury, CT), Nicolas Giapponi (Bethel, CT), Janet Goldstein (Putney, VT), gene gort (Torrington, CT), Amy Greenleaf (Guilford, CT), Merrill Grossman (New Fairfield, CT), Lys Guillorn (Shelton, CT), Stephen Harris (New Haven, CT), Don Heiny (West Cornwall, CT), Jean Hislop (Danbury, CT), Nancy Hoffmann, (Mansfield Center, CT), Ellen Hoverkamp (West Haven, CT), Charles Jennes (Ridgefield, CT), Stephanie Johnson (Willimantic, CT), Marcy Juran (Westport, CT), Karen Kalkstein (Stamford, CT), Laura Kara (Bethel, CT), Phyllis Keenan (Denver, CO), Alan Kendzior (Enfield, CT), Stephen V.
