FAIRFIELD ARTS COMMISSION INVITES LOCAL ARTISTS TO SUBMIT INTEREST TO CREATE A PUBLIC MURAL
FAIRFIELD, CT – The Fairfield Arts Commission invites local artists to submit expressions of interest by Thursday September 10, 2026, for a planned public mural to be located at Harry’s Corner Plaza at 2090-2130 Post Road in Fairfield.
The Fairfield Arts Commission is looking to work with a local artist to create an original work of art that will provide a distinctive and welcoming experience for residents and visitors alike to Fairfield. The Commission hopes to complete the project before year’s end if at all possible.
This opportunity is open to all professional artists, 18 years of age or older, residing in the Town of Fairfield or surrounding area. Priority will be given to artists with prior mural experience. Artists do not need to be residents of Fairfield but must reside in the area and demonstrate a meaningful connection to the Town through work, school, family, recreation or other ties.
Up to three (3) selected finalists will be invited to develop full-color concept proposals, for which they will receive a stipend of $250. The total project budget is $10,000, which is inclusive of all artist costs. Artists should refer to information posted in the solicitation found here.
Artwork will be chosen by members of the Fairfield Arts Commission, in consultation with the project sponsor(s), based on artistic excellence, demonstrated experience, overall body of work, creativity and relevance to the theme, and suitability for public display.
.
“This is a really unique opportunity to help beautify our community and support local artists,” said Fairfield Arts Commission Chair Charlie MacDonald. “We are truly grateful to Harry’s Corner for offering wall space for this mural as well as their generous support for the arts and so many other local causes.” he added.
The Commission is seeking additional sponsors for this project. To learn more about how you can help support the creation of this mural, please contact the Fairfield Arts Commission at arts@fairfieldct.org.
