INTEMPO Senior Program Coordinator Anny Guartatanga Is Named a Top 30 Professional of 2025 by Musical America

Guartatanga Is the Second INTEMPO Staff Member to Receive This Honor, Following Founder Angie Durrell in 2023

Stamford, CT ( January 7, 2026) — INTEMPO, an award-winning music education nonprofit
celebrating its 15th anniversary, is proud to announce that their senior program coordinator Anny
Guartatanga has been named a Top 30 Professional of 2025 by Musical America, the country’s leading classical music magazine. According to Musical America, this award recognizes “those in the industry who relentlessly and enthusiastically strive to keep the performing arts vibrant. They may be high-profile or work behind the scenes. They are ingenious, deliberate, and tireless.” Past winners have included CEOs of major orchestras, presidents of conservatories, and renowned performers.

“I am honored to be recognized with this award,” said Guartatanga. “Representing INTEMPO in this recognition reinforces my belief in the power of music, community, and access to transform lives.” As senior program coordinator, Guartatanga is affectionately regarded as INTEMPO’s “mom.” She serves as the primary liaison between staff and families, helping ensure that the organization’s Music School — which serves over 120 students — runs smoothly. Growing up in Ecuador, she studied piano in a conservatory, an experience that shaped her passion for music education. Ten years ago, she enrolled her two sons in INTEMPO Music School, where they study viola and cello to this day. Five years ago, she joined the INTEMPO staff.

“Soon after I joined INTEMPO, one student told me that she thought Anny owned INTEMPO,” said Lou Chen, CEO of INTEMPO. “No surprises there. INTEMPO’s mission is to make music education accessible — which requires a tailored approach to every student — which in turn requires a deep knowledge and appreciation of each student. Anny embodies that approach to her core. When our families say that they trust INTEMPO, they mean that they trust Anny.”
Notably, this is the second time that an INTEMPO staff member has received this honor. INTEMPO founder Angie Durrell was named a Top 30 Professional of 2023. Only a handful of organizations, and even fewer that are similar in size to INTEMPO, have had two staff members recognized by Musical America. “INTEMPO has the best team — trusted, innovative, and unstoppable,” said Chen. “This just proves it!”
