I’m honored to have two pieces selected by the juror, Amy Smith-Steward, Chief Curator at The Aldrich, for this exhibition. The pieces included are both from my thesis exhibition and include a homemade flexible bioplastic and U.S. currency residue, among other elements. My thesis research explored the history of the Home Economics Movement, which was started by the first female chemist to attend MIT, Ellen Swallow Richards. The movement was based on science and promoted making the world better through the household.
