Black Rock Art Guild was founded in 2014 by Fairfield County artists Judy Noel and Michelle Huber as a gathering place for painters, sculptures, and other visual artists living in and around the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. Now with over seventy members, BRAG artists exhibit individually and as a group in and around Connecticut including the Bridgeport Art Trail, Framemakers Gallery and annually in November at the Burroughs Community Center. This year’s event is November 8th at the Burroughs Community Center in Black Rock.
BRAG performing artists was founded by poet and educator Janet Krauss to spread the love of letters to the community and read art-based poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction several times a year. BRAG Performing Artists Co-director Christopher Madden is an editor at Woodhall Press, poet, fiction writer, and essayist. Readings take place at the Black Rock Library, Fairfield University Bookstore, and other locations. At any given reading, you may hear professors from Fairfield University, the director of the Connecticut Poetry Project, current Fairfield MFA students and alum, and many others. Readings are free open to the public.
