Eileen Panepinto is a mixed media artist, painter and collagist who received her BFA with honors in painting from the School of Visual Arts, NYC. She moved from NYC to CT in 1993. She has exhibited in numerous group shows in NYC and CT and beyond.
She has had six one-person shows and was recently awarded two special recognition awards for her mixed media painting installations. Her work is in numerous private collections as well as installed in a public space.
The focus of her work is creating abstract and semi-abstract narratives about experiences, places, or states-of-mind through mixed media construction, collages and paintings. The formal aspects of her work and who she is influenced by are the modern masters (ie, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, Cornell, Rauschenberg, etc.). She says that although she wants to be a part of that continuum she wants to evolve it rather than echo it and so therefore she embraces original ideas and approaches to making art.
Eileen belongs to the Artist Collective of Westport which helps to engage the community with the arts. In addition, she has been a teaching artist for many years teaching visual art to children in various venues. These have included: visiting artists and after-school programs at area schools and art guilds; special summer art camp programs; as an instructor at a Montessori school (grades 1 thru 8); and, in individual instruction.
Eileen is also a graphic designer and typographer. She has known she was an artist since she was five years old. She lives in Weston, CT with her husband and her dog Bosco.
