Jessica Makin is a painter who shows in various venues in the Northeast. She has been included in exhibitions at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, Stratasphere Gallery in Philadelphia, and at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. She graduated summa cum laude from Rowan University where she studied Painting with Daniel Chard and Carol Taylor-Kearney.
Growing up on a horse farm has greatly influenced her thinking as an artist. It gave her an interest in our complex relationship with nature and mark making as a way of telling that story. Her work is characterized by textural surfaces and lush color. The paintings come out of the traditions of landscape and abstraction, allowing for the associations of the viewer, and provoking contemplation of our ties to the natural world.
