The society is dedicated to the preservation of the historical heritage of Redding, CT.

Founded in 1997, some of its activities and achievements have included:

● Preservation of Redding Green – received grant from National Trust for Historic Preservation

● Sponsored scenic road designations throughout town.

● Co-sponsored “Resource Day for Historic Property Owners (January 21, 2007)

● With Town of Redding, established Historic Easement Program for property owners. (see below)

●Supported 180-Day Demolition Delay ordinance – adapted the 26 page CT Trust model to Redding including the formation of a – Historic Review Committee

●Support reasonable cell tower applications (modest height) and oppose unnecessary commercial towers.

●Support Georgetown – Gilbert & Bennett – Project

●Preservation of Charles Ives House with the Charles Ives Society
