The society is dedicated to the preservation of the historical heritage of Redding, CT. Founded in 1997, some of its activities and achievements have included: â— Preservation of Redding Green – received grant from National Trust for Historic Preservation â— Sponsored scenic road designations throughout town. â— Co-sponsored “Resource Day for Historic Property Owners (January 21, 2007) â— With Town of Redding, established Historic Easement Program for property owners. (see below) â—Supported 180-Day Demolition Delay ordinance – adapted the 26 page CT Trust model to Redding including the formation of a – Historic Review Committee â—Support reasonable cell tower applications (modest height) and oppose unnecessary commercial towers. â—Support Georgetown – Gilbert & Bennett – Project â—Preservation of Charles Ives House with the Charles Ives Society
