The Discovery Science Center & Planetarium is a family-friendly science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) interactive destination located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Our mission is to engage, excite, and educate young learners through experiences and programs that inspire wonder and ignite creativity for a lifetime love of STEM learning. We are active advocates for STEM literacy as a critical component of self-sufficiency preparedness. We utilize our unique resources and expertise in informal STEM learning to encourage and illuminate a pathway for all young learners to become empowered and informed decision makers.

All of our programs are written, developed, and taught by our STEM Learning Programs team of educators. Our services include:

– Three floors of hands-on STEM exhibits that empower visitors of all ages to explore and learn. Our in-house resources include the Henry B. duPont III Planetarium, Connecticut’s only Challenger Center, and a theater for live science demonstrations

– In-school programs, in which schools come to the museum for grade-appropriate, Next Generation Science Standards-aligned mediated learning, and also a special NASA-funded K-12 rocketry program for the PK-8 Interdistrict Discovery Magnet School

– Out-of-school programs, including a robust repertoire of summer programs, an advanced after school program for Bridgeport students called STEM Accelerators, and a girls-only, STEM careers-oriented after school program for Bridgeport students called Mighty STEM Girls, for which we are seeking Bridgeport Rotary’s support.

– Community event days throughout the year which include free or reduced-price public admission and which focus on specific STEM themes (e.g. Space Day)
