Art happens at the crossroads of our pasts and our futures, allowing us to understand where we’ve been and to see where we want to go. The Schelfhaudt Gallery stands in this intersection as a signpost interpreting our artistic now, showing us where we are in the landscape of art.

Our newly reimagined gallery is a contemporary art and teaching gallery located in the post-industrial Arnold Bernhard Center for Arts & Humanities on Paier College’s seaside campus in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

We stand on the historic ground of exhibition spaces that have shown artists such as Josef Albers, Anni Albers, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Louise Nevelson, and Alice Neel.

In addition to showing innovative works of exciting national and international artists, the gallery curates and exhibits that illuminate art history and enhance the cultural life of our community. The gallery is an indispensable resource for art students from our partner institutions and from around the region. The gallery offers a wide variety of programming to reach our goals in addition to our expertly curated exhibitions of contemporary art.

The Schelfhaudt Gallery brings the world of art to us and allows us to wander there with joy.
