Edgar Allan Poe inspired numerous artists to create images that capture the unnerving mystery of his stories. These include Édouard Manet, Gustave Doré, Aubrey Beardsley, and Arthur Rackham.

Want to be part of that prestigious list? We invite artists to submit work that puts their spin on Edgar Allan Poe. Works can be based on his stories, poetry, a portrait of Poe himself, or something evocative of his writings.

Submissions are open to visual art (paintings, drawings, or photography), poetry* or **performance (music, dance, drama, or spoken word).

This art show is part of our “Edgar Allan Poe: A Tell-Tale Soirée” event.

*Poetry must be framed with a wire attached to the back so it can be hung.
**Performers can submit a framed publicity photo or a video still for the show, along with a QR code for the title card that contains a link to their website or video channel.

PEACE TALKS is a national call in all mediums that invites artists and viewers alike to reflect on the many dimensions of peace — personal, political, spiritual, and environmental. The title is both literal and metaphorical. Peace Talks references the formal negotiations between nations or opposing forces, but it also evokes quiet conversations, collective or individual protest, internal reckonings, and the soft language of reconciliation. The exhibit centers on the idea of dialogue: between cultures, between generations, and within the self.

The juror is Eduardo Andres Alfonso, Associate Curator of the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT.

This year’s MoCA CT High School Art Exhibition theme examines the intricate balance between human activity and Earth’s biodiversity. While industrialization, deforestation, and pollution have driven species toward extinction and accelerated climate change, efforts to conserve and protect are gaining ground. Through art, we explore the evolving relationship between humans and nature, revealing both the harm caused and the resilience needed for restoration. While traditional forms like painting, drawing, and photography are welcome, we strongly encourage students to explore conceptual works in video, sound art, installation, and free standing and pedestal-hold sculptures.
