The mission of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County is to support cultural organizations, artists and creative businesses by providing unified marketing, capacity building, professional development, and advocacy services.
Our region includes Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Shelton, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton. Our purpose is to bring together a broad diversity of arts leaders to strategize, gather information, and support arts industry learning.
We develop partnerships and working relationships with local arts agencies and other cultural service providers, municipal leaders, business leaders, economic and community development directors, developers, and others within our region to further COA’s strategic plan and foster and promote artistic and cultural health and vibrancy across the state.
We broaden belonging – We are an open circle, ready to embrace all who want to participate in an arts and culture network that engages in community together. We encourage mutual learning and reciprocity among members. We believe that well-being is enhanced and communities thrive when there is a focus on the collective.
We listen and respond – We engage with our members and the community from a space of deep respect. We celebrate a multiplicity of perspectives and ideas from the lived experiences of all. We believe that open hearts and minds foster meaningful relationships.
We activate stewardship – We serve as a collaborative agent that nurtures, facilitates, energizes, and amplifies the region’s arts and culture community. We are partners in realizing the region’s fullest potential.
We cultivate trust – In the midst of an ever-changing and unpredictable world, we are dependable and consistent in our support. We understand trust as a first step in building fruitful relationships.

We are committed to creating an equitable arts sector where diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences are celebrated and valued. We strive to dismantle systemic barriers to ensure access to arts and cultural opportunities for all residents of Fairfield County.
There is no question that ample data has identified our region as one of the most economically and racially inequitable in the country, conditions which methodically separate people and leave us feeling overwhelmed and dispirited. We experience these persistent outcomes in all that we do. We will only begin to understand racial bias and inequity – its behaviors, beliefs, and structures – through a process of mutual learning grounded in the multiplicity of views, creativity, qualities, and experience that shape this region.
