Kris Davenport Toohey

Kris Davenport Toohey is an atmospheric landscape painter who has a passion for the interplay of color and light in nature. While Kris often starts with a coastal view, the final “marshscape” is a combination of her artistic process and imagination. Kris uses oil paints to build veils of light, fluid reflections and misty depths by layering and blending opaque color and translucent glazes with oversized brushes and her hands. In each landscape, Kris strives to create a tangible mood and a sense of atmosphere.

Kris’s work has been exhibited in numerous juried exhibits, galleries and home design stores. In addition, Kris is an Exhibiting Member of The Rowayton Arts Center (winning 2020 Best in Show and 2018 1st Place Oils in the RAC Marine & Coastal Show), as well as an active member of the Artists Collective of Westport, Ridgefield Guild of Artists, Carriage Barn Arts Center, Greenwich Arts Council and Lyme Art Association. Kris lives and works in Westport, CT.
