As I walk certain volcanic beaches I’m intrigued by the natural patterns left in the sand by the receding tide. Looking closely, the Gestalt panorama of the patterns become apparent and I find the refraction of light and angles in the sand to be an inspirational art form; each unique and mesmerizing.

Twice a year I visit the black volcanic beaches in Costa Rica where I spend hours each day shooting the natural patterns that are simply created by the receding tide of the Pacific Ocean. My photos of these patterns (all shot natural and with color filters) are meant to be thought provoking. See in them what you like or can imagine, remembering that they are the gift of nature.
