Steve Parton is an award winning painter and educator who divides his time between Manhattan and his Westport, CT studio. Portraits, landscape, and still life are all within his oeuvre. He offers classes in oils, acrylics, drawing & watercolor at my Westport studio. He is also on the faculty of the Silvermine School of Art, and the Westport School District. Steve paints in oils in a traditional renaissance manner to give his subjects as much richness as possible. This is an indirect method, building up a monochrome grisaille underpainting over which he gradually adds color with both transparent glazes and full bodied color. This is a time consuming process. This technique offers very delicate tonal variations impossible with other painting methods. His paintings are in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. He is an elected artist member of the Salmagundi Club, and several other prominent arts organizations.
