Wilton Historical Society

Founded in 1938, the Wilton Historical Society is dedicated to enriching the community and region through preserving and presenting Wilton’s remarkable heritage. Exhibitions, lecture series, and hands-on programming help our community: Discover the past, Enlighten the present, Enrich the future, and Enjoy our heritage.

Our five-building site includes two 18th century homes, two 19th century barns, and a working 19th century Blacksmith Shop.

Workshops and demonstrations include: Carding and spinning wool, weaving, woodworking, hearth cooking, and observing hand-forged tool making in the Blacksmith Shop.

Our permanent collection of 19th century trade and craft tools, doll houses and toys, costumes, and historic artifacts–including paintings, photographs, and works on paper–are featured in permanent exhibitions.

The Wilton Historical Society’s fascinating tours of our colonial and 19th century period rooms are offered daily. In addition, the Society organizes changing exhibitions that include contemporary work, and our Annual Toy Train exhibition held each holiday season.

We have lots of fun! Our programs not only educate but entertain, our social events have a historical twist, and it’s a great place to volunteer.
