Barbara Loss is a photographer of people, events, nature, and architectural design. She likes to capture the moment, whether in her street photography or while shooting portraits. A former teacher of English and reading in Bridgeport and Fairfield High Schools and at Norwalk Community College, she is the author of Say the Word, A Guide to Improving Word Recognition Skills for teens and adults. She often incorporated her photography into her classroom.

Her recent photographic themes have generated two photo books, Bridgeport, Beauty and Blight, A Tour of Our City through Photographs (2016) and Is Anybody Home? (2018) which explores societal implications of homes through images.

In addition to exhibits throughout Connecticut, photos have been published in Cuba Arts (Park Avenue Sculpture Project), Venu Magazine (for the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County), Vienna Museum’s catalog entitled Trude Fleischmann, Der Selbstbewusste Blick, and in 2019, her portrait of the renowned photographer Trude Fleischmann was included in the newly released documentary “Trude Fleischmann in Nackter Gesellschaft” for Austrian TV (2019) in which she was a contributor and consultant.
