Don Perley is an award-winning artist, creating abstract oil paintings and painted collage constructions for over 40 years. He has had affiliations with Albert Shahinian in the Hudson Valley, The Flow of Art in Norwalk, and Schmidt/Dean in Philadelphia. He is currently one of the artists of the Pleiades Gallery, New York City.
Don is the recipient of best painting prizes in juried competitions from East End Arts, Riverhead, NY, and from the Greenwich Art Society. His style is improvisational, complex, direct and joyous. He combines the freedom of improvisation with complex, layered gestures, colors and textures.
Originally from the Midwest, Don now lives and works in Stamford. He was recently interviewed by the creator of Multiple Arts on the ups and downs of being a self-taught artist which can be seen on Youtube.
