The Klein Memorial Auditorium is a 1,447-seat performing arts center that serves as a hub for Bridgeport and surrounding communities. Built in 1940, it is one of only 7 Broadway-sized stages remaining in Connecticut. The Klein houses its own after school arts education program (Klein Theatre Arts) as well as 4 resident performance companies: Greater Bridgeport Symphony, Academy of New England Ballet Company, Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras, and Fairfield County Children’s Choir. It also is home to the KEYS music education program, youth development program ConnectUs, numerous dance companies and concert promoters, civic ceremonies and graduations. Recently The Klein brought such diverse talents as Loretta Swit in a 1-woman show about Eleanor Roosevelt, Vienna Boys Choir, concert series Footsteps of Peace, Rodriguez, the Quantico Marine Corps Band, Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Ensemble, and its own 75th anniversary concert hosted by bandleader/musician Paul Shaffer.
