One of Connecticut’s most popular attractions, the not-for-profit Aquarium offers fun, educational experiences for all ages. Guests learn about the diversity of marine life and are inspired to appreciate and protect Long Island Sound and the ocean beyond. Featured are more than 7,000 animals of 350 species native to the Sound and its watershed, including seals, large sharks, river otters, jellies, sea turtles and more. Highlights include: touch encounters with intertidal animals, sharks and rays, and jellyfish; sensory-enhanced movies in a new 4D theater; STEM-based educational programs for schools; and hands-on public cruises aboard the Aquarium’s unique hybrid-electric research vessel.
The Maritime Aquarium offers frequent "Sensory Friendly" events – where we open early or stay open late – to give guests with sensory-processing differences a fun, comfortable and accepting environment. And the Aquarium leads the "Accessibility for All" initiative that facilitates visits to many of the top attractions in Fairfield County for guests with disabilities or special needs.
