Lizzy Rockwell

Lizzy Rockwell is an illustrator whose artwork can be seen in picture books, magazines, games and on walls. She studied art and art history at Connecticut College, and drawing and illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

She is an illustrator and author, with nearly 40 picture books published. Her most recent books are The All-Together Quilt, How Do You Feel? which she wrote and illustrated, and Hiking Day, which she illustrated and was written by Anne Rockwell.

Lizzy Rockwell is also a quilter and quilting teacher. In 2008 she formed a group called Peace by Piece: The Norwalk Community Quilt Project. The group is made up of children and adults, who meet weekly in Norwalk, CT and make collaborative quilts. Quilts are made as gifts, for fundraising and for personal use. Others are created for public installation. To date, seven quilts are in the permanent collection at Norwalk Community College, Stepping Stones Museum for Children, Norwalk Public Library, South Norwalk Branch Library and Newfield Library in Bridgeport, CT. Each of the installation quilts is designed by Lizzy and incorporates fabric art from numerous individuals. Public quilting bees allow even more people to participate in the communal work of art.

Lizzy has two grown sons, and lives and works in Bridgeport, CT with her husband, Ken Alcorn, a high school social studies teacher, and their dog Reggie
